WHY SHOULD YOU VOTE FOR ANDREA?

As a mom, I'm directly invested in any and all decisions made for children of the district, as those decisions impact my children, too. The best start you can give a child in life is the foundation of a loving family and a solid education that prepares them for a healthy, independent, adult life. We owe our children nothing less than the best, and I vow to ensure that their future is my utmost priority.

In the wake of COVID-19, I began watching school board meetings, connecting with administrators to ask questions, connecting with community members, and seeking new ways to be involved. I'm proud to say that I have attended every school board meeting (some committee meetings, and most board work sessions) since August 2019. I have contacted board members regarding parent concerns and offered ideas to help facilitate conversations between the district and community. I also reached out to administration to offer some ideas on ways to manage the virus that meets the needs of every child, every day in the least restrictive learning environment, My focus is discovering ways to keep our schools OPEN and consistently . I want to promote a positive learning environment where every child feels equally valued, loved, and wanted.

My Vision for Reform:
  • CURRICULUM:

    • Full review and transparency of curriculum. Parents have the right to know what their children are being taught.

    • Incorporate more real-life experiences to prepare our students for an independent adult life.

    • Analyze our current curricula and compare with practices of other thriving districts.

    • Ensure instruction is focused and balanced with accurate history centered only on facts (not theories) and nurtures diversity and inclusion positively while promoting focus on humanity versus divisional assessments of races and cultures (No CRT or political biases in the classroom; equality over collective equity).

    • Encourage meeting each child's diverse needs on an individualized level instead of placing them into collective "target groups".

  • DISTRICT SPENDING:

    • Dollar for dollar transparency on all expenses; eliminate any wasteful spending.

    • Maximize funding going directly to classroom resources and school maintenance.

    • POTENTIAL REFERENDUM: I am in support of the majority of the proposed referendum but would like to see athletic facilities wait if the renovations are not a necessity (there has not been a detailed breakdown provided of what the cost entails yet). I would rather see the funding going to renovating our schools in whole (classrooms, lab materials, updates, etc.)

  • COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS

    • Strengthen relationships between the board and community to bring ALL voices to the table; parents/caregivers, teachers, and community members of various perspectives in order to work together to build a strong foundation for our children.

    • Ensure board meetings have measurable goals and action plans, follow up reporting, and data-driven decision making.

    • Protecting parental rights to make decisions for their children academically and medically- no more mandates.

MY PROMISE TO YOU

Elected by YOU, FOR you.

I've been advocating for your children (and mine) for over a year, and it's something I've really grown a passion for. For nearly two years (since my oldest became an AASD student), I have been connecting with many families and educators to listen to their heartfelt stories, and I have been honored that they've trusted me with some of the most candid moments in their lives. I've seen tears and have shared laughter with so many; and I wouldn't trade a moment of that experience.

I've met lots of little (and not so little) people along the way, and it's really been a treasure and inspiration to watch them grow; they are our future, and being their advocate is a responsibility I do not take lightly. I vow to do my best and will never grow complacent. From the connections I've made and have yet to make, I feel called to make sure parents and teachers always have a voice in the district; you are not a number to me, you are a person

There's always more work to be done in securing our children's future. No matter who you are, where you come from, or what concerns you have, I'm here for you and I will listen. There may be times when I'm not able to offer immediate help, but I will always serve as a voice for families in our district and the community. We are all united in our desire to always do what is best for our children.
